The project was created during a lockdown in Moscow in 2020. It was not possible to go outside and photograph people in the streets. Yandex Street View became a way to escape reality and explore different cities across Russia, with the option of selecting a year of observation from 2010 to 2020.
It appeared at first to be a journey through time, but as the project progressed, it became obvious that landscapes and people in the pictures did not differ significantly from one location to the next and from year to year. The unchanging views of cities with strong Soviet aesthetics vividly depict the country's current state, when the regime's ideology has long expired.
The photographs were taken with a Polaroid SX-70 from the computer screen.
